The Greater Toronto Hockey League hosted the 10th annual GTHL Legacy Classic on August 24, raising a record $28,797.67 in support of the GTHL Legacy Fund.
After being cancelled in 2020 due to COVID-19, the event, held at Station Creek Golf Club, served as a safe and welcomed reunion for over 100 golfers from the hockey community and many partners who also came out to support the tournament.
“It’s amazing for us to be out here in this great weather and being able to get together for the first time since the pandemic started,” GTHL Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer, Scott Oakman, shared at the event. “[To be] with the people that run our organizations and support our organizations, and being able to celebrate the coming hockey season… it’s an amazing feeling.”
The significant support displayed for the GTHL Legacy Classic will directly benefit the GTHL’s Legacy Fund, which was established in 2011 in an effort to help families in financial need, and to assist organizations in funding hockey programs with a focus on child and community development.
On the leader board, the NHL Players Association took home the tournament win, with the Toronto Jr. Canadiens in second and the Ontario Hockey Federation rounding out the top three.
