Ben Chan of the Under-16 ‘A’ Markham Islanders got into the holiday spirit early this year.

Chan took the initiative to order shoeboxes to support children in need through the Samaritan’s Purse ahead of the holiday season. With a goal to fill 150 shoeboxes, the Islanders’ player led the charge, getting his teammates on board, as well as his 1st Unionville Scouts Troop, family, and friends.

The U16 ‘A’ Islanders stepped up, helping Chan fill all the boxes. Chan then delivered the boxes to send to children in need in other countries, successfully exceeding his goal and making a difference in the lives of 177 kids this holiday season.
