GTHL hosted Indigenous Hockey Equipment Drive a big success

As part of the I Play in the G and Under-18 All-Star Festivals fuelled by Gatorade on January 27-28 at Scotiabank Pond, the Greater Toronto Hockey League hosted an Indigenous Hockey Equipment Drive in support of Indigenous youth in Ontario.

The drive was an incredible success, bringing in 150 full hockey bags and 237 sticks, as well as a $1,100 financial donation.

“This was one of the best hockey drives we have done,” said Graham McWaters, Founder of the Indigenous Hockey Equipment Drive. “[A lot of] people are going to donate at future events and contacts we made were more than the norm. It was a great way to start the year.”

The Indigenous Hockey Equipment Drive is one of the main pillars of diversity and inclusion with Their Opportunity, which assist with planning, logistics, social media, and the online presence for the cash donations to buy new helmets and support any transportation costs. The GTHL thanks all those who took the time to donate to and support this year’s Indigenous Hockey Equipment Drive.
