Liam Donaghy recently completed his 11th season in the GTHL – with the Goulding Park Rangers Midget House team – and also finished his first year of study in Chemical Engineering at the University of Toronto. Donaghy, who wears No. 66 in honour of his hockey idol Mario Lemieux, says his most memorable hockey moment was when he scored in overtime of the championship game in the King Clancy Cup during his first year in ‘A’ hockey.
After learning to skate at age three, he began to hone his hockey skills almost every winter day with his dad on their backyard rink. Donaghy counts his late father as the most influential person in his hockey career, saying that “he was really supportive of me and always made sure I was putting 100% effort into hockey and everything else in life.”
