Esso GTHL Puck Drop Weekend set for October 26-27 at Canlan York

The Esso Greater Toronto Hockey League (GTHL) Puck Drop Weekend is set for October 26 and 27 at Canlan York, celebrating the beginning of the 2024-25 season.  

A proud partner of the NHL, the Toronto Maple Leafs, and a Founding Partner of the Hockey Hall of Fame, the Esso brand will harness the power of its partnerships to create an unforgettable experience for participants later this month. During the festival, teams will have the chance to take part in several events and activities, including:  

  • Esso Most Driven Medals – At the end of each game, one player from each team will be selected to receive an Esso Medal. The Most Driven Medal is awarded to the player who best exemplifies the spirit of hockey, making an immeasurable impact on their team’s performance.  Esso Medal winners will have the ability to compete to win one of three sets of tickets to a Toronto Maple Leafs game. 
  • Contests and Giveaways – Throughout the weekend, there will be various prizes and giveaways, including a T–shirt toss during a special on-ice event! Each participating player will also receive a free Toronto Maple Leafs toque courtesy of the Esso brand! Participants and spectators canalso win tickets to the Hockey Hall of Fame by correctly answering hockey trivia during the special on-ice event. 
  • Meet Carlton the Bear – Catch the Toronto Maple Leafs’ Carlton the Bear at Canlan York all weekend, along with Toronto Maple Leafs alumni and other special guests. 
  • Hockey Hall of Fame Exhibit – The Hockey Hall of Fame will feature NHL trophy exhibits, interactive games, and more. 
  • Make Your Own Hockey Card – Stop by the hockey card booth at Canlan York on Saturday and Sunday to create your own hockey card, featuring the Toronto Maple Leafs, the GTHL, and the Esso brand.  
  • Special On-Ice Event – Both Saturday and Sunday will feature an exclusive on-ice event on Rink 1 at Canlan York, with appearances from Toronto Maple Leafs alumni, celebrity hockey influencers Pavel Barber and Coach Jeremy, and more.
