The Greater Toronto Hockey League is proud to announce the 2024 GTHL Breakout Summit, set to take place November 2-3 at Scotia Plaza.
The two-day Summit will bring GTHL Club and House League leaders together to celebrate champions in the community, recognize leadership, and focus on continuing to build the path forward for hockey and youth sport. With special guest speakers, breakout sessions, networking, and more, the Summit will highlight action already taken by GTHL organizations and share proactive solutions with collaboration and insights.
“Five years after the GTHL Transition Game Summit in 2019, the GTHL is excited to reflect on that time, celebrate the work that has been done, and focus on the next phase of growing the game,” said Scott Oakman, Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer of the GTHL. “The Transition Game Summit mainly focused on necessary strategies to change the culture of the game. Now the Breakout Summit will focus on sharing, celebrating, and inspiring the next level of implementation as the GTHL continues to lead hockey and sport in this important work.”
The Summit will feature speakers such as the National Hockey League’s (NHL) Senior Executive Vice President of Social Impact, Growth Initiatives and Legislative Affairs Kim Davis, Hockey Canada’s President and Chief Executive Officer Katherine Henderson, Assistant Professor at Concordia University of Edmonton Dr. Teresa Fowler, among others.
Among the panels throughout the weekend is the topic of implementing inclusive tactics, featuring former professional hockey player and current Sports Analyst at CBS and Manager of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion of the Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) Soroya Tinker, former NHL Coach of the Year and current co-founder and President of 3Nolans Ted Nolan, the first openly gay men’s professional hockey player and public speaker Brock McGillis, and Luca DeMontis, a dedicated member of the Blind Hockey Community, current General Manager of the Canadian National Blind Hockey Team and Program Director for blind hockey programs across the country.
The 2024 GTHL Breakout Summit welcomes Rob Pizzo as the event’s moderator, who brings more than a decade of experience in the sports broadcasting industry including most recently coverage of the Olympic Games Paris 2024.
