Four GTHL Associations to Take Part in the Canadian Tire First Shift Program

Hockey Canada has announced details regarding the minor hockey associations partaking in the 2016-17 Canadian Tire First Shift program. This year’s program will include four GTHL associations including the Mississauga Hockey League, Weston Minor Hockey League, Duffield Sports Club, and the Thornhill Community Hockey League.

The Canadian Tire First Shift program offers a welcoming, safe, and fun experience for all participants. The program is open to boys and girls from 6-10 years of age, who have never registered to play hockey. Registration is $199 and includes:

  • A welcome session including introduction to instructors and program overview
  • Six on-ice “learn to play” sessions
  • A 1:4 instructor to participant ratio
  • A complete set of new Bauer hockey gear

In the program’s third year of existence, The First Shift is well on its way to reaching its goal of bringing over 1,000,000 new families to the sport of hockey over the next 10 years.
