The Greater Toronto Hockey League hosted its first PD Skill Development Day presented by Gitch Sportswear (GSW) of the 2024-2025 season on Friday, October 11 at Scotiabank Pond. In its sixth season, the event sold out, welcoming 75 participants. The participants ranged from Under-9 to U13, with a varying skillset including house league to ‘AAA’.
The day included two on-ice sessions, an off-ice session in the classroom, as well as dryland training. On the ice, the first session consisted of skating and skills, with a focus throughout the day on skills in stations and small area games. Above all, both on ice sessions prioritized having fun.
In the classroom, participants showed off their competitive sides with teamwork and group bonding activities.
Participants also had the opportunity to go through a dryland session at Matt Nichol’s training facility, running through various activities focusing on fitness and fun.
A special thank you to the GSW for outfitting the participants in new GTHL Development jerseys and t-shirts, as well as providing GTHL on-ice instructors with new gear.
The second GTHL PD Skill Development Day presented by GSW is taking place on Friday, February 14, 2025 at Scotiabank Pond. Stay tuned for registration details, to be announced at a later date.
