GTHL announces new dates, rosters for Under-18 AAA, AA, and A All-Star games fuelled by Gatorade

The Greater Toronto Hockey League announced today the new dates for the Under-18 ‘AAA,’ ‘AA,’ and ‘A’ All-Star games fuelled by Gatorade following the event’s postponement due to Government of Ontario restrictions. Originally scheduled for February 5-6, the U18 All-Star games will now take place at Scotiabank Pond on the following dates and times:

  • U18 ‘AAA’ All-Star Game: Friday, March 4 at 7:00pm
  • U18 ‘AA’ All-Star Game: Saturday, March 5 at 2:40pm
  • U18 ‘A’ All-Star Game: Saturday, March 5 at 5:00pm

Admission to the games will be free of charge. Attendance will be dependent on restrictions put in place by the provincial government and/or Public Health policies at that time, as well as Scotiabank Pond capacity. Additional details will be provided closer to the game dates.

The ‘AA’ and ‘A’ rosters were selected based on five candidate submissions from each club. Directors of player development used the first half of the 2021-22 season to observe and evaluate the ‘AAA’ players, focusing on their physical play, offensive and defensive skills, positioning and skating. The final evaluation process was dependent on a selection panel grading the players.

The coaches and trainers were selected based on their team’s position in the League’s standings.

The ‘AAA’ All-Star rosters have 13 clubs represented. On Team Blue, the Mississauga Reps lead the way with eight players, the Toronto Young Nationals are close behind with five, followed by the Vaughan Kings with four, the Toronto Red Wings with two, and the Mississauga Rebels and Toronto Marlboros each with one player.

On Team Red, the Toronto Jr. Canadiens have seven players selected, the Thunder Bay Kings are featured with five, and the Don Mills Flyers have three. Both the Markham Majors and the North York Rangers each have two players represented, with the Mississauga Senators and the Toronto Titans each with one player rostered.

The bench staff include representation from the Reps, Young Nationals, Vaughan Kings, Thunder Bay Kings, Jr. Canadiens, and Titans.
