The Greater Toronto Hockey League has announced the coaching staff selections for the two GTHL teams competing in the 2017 OHL Gold Cup.
The U16 OHL Gold Cup is an annual event created to showcase Ontario’s top Under-16 talent. It is also an evaluation and selection platform for Team Canada. Top players will be selected from the U16 OHL Gold Cup to attend the Under-17 Team Canada National Camp where the Hockey Canada staff will select 66 players from across the country to represent Canada at the World Under-17 Challenge in December 2017. With 8 teams and 160 players representing the ALLIANCE, GTHL, HEO, HNO, NOHA, and OMHA, the future of Canadian hockey is on display during the 2017 OHL Gold Cup. This year’s event will take place May 3 – 7 in Kitchener, Ontario.
GTHL teams will be looking to win their third consecutive OHL Gold Cup title during the 2017 campaign. Both the 2016 and 2015 tournaments were captured by the GTHL.
