The Greater Toronto Hockey League is celebrating the lives of Sean Coles and Anthony Thomas with commemorative helmet stickers for fellow GTHL officials. Dedicated members of the hockey community, Sean passed in June 2024 and Anthony in August 2024.
A loving and devoted husband, father, and hockey community member, Sean spent many seasons dedicated to the Metro Toronto Hockey League (MTHL), GTHL, Ontario Hockey Association (OHA), and the Ontario Minor Hockey Association (OMHA) in both officiating and coaching roles. After a courageous battle with lung cancer, the hockey and officiating communities honour Sean and his commitment to the game.
Following a battle with brain cancer, Anthony Thomas will be remembered and honoured by the GTHL community as a lover of hockey. A devoted and passionate person for the sport, Anthony was an official in many of the GTHL’s programs, including at the house league level with Victoria Village and Don Mills, with the North York Hockey League (NYHL), and at the competitive level.
“Sean and Anthony are being remembered by our officiating team in the GTHL at all levels,” Peter Kourtis, GTHL General Manager, shared. “Both officials were dedicated to their craft and to have cancer take both of them away from us this past summer is an important reminder that we should enjoy time with family and friends while having fun at the rink.”
