GTHL teams give back this holiday season

As the holiday season comes to a close, the Greater Toronto Hockey League is congratulating the many teams who spent time giving back.

Under-14 ‘A’ Ted Reeve Thunder volunteer, give back to Grace Pascoe Food Bank

On November 29, the U14 ‘A’ Ted Reeve Thunder volunteered at the Grace Pascoe Food Bank, delivering food items and money collected as a team. The players helped volunteers organized the collected items ahead of the weekly distribution. In total, the Thunder collected approximately $1000 in food items and $750 in money donated.

“It was a really eye opening experience for the team, [to be able] to learn about the needs in our Ted Reeve community,” shared team manager Julie Middleton.

On December 3, the U10 Mississauga Senators participated in a 3km team charity run at Centennial Park (pictured left) and raised $2000 in support of the Daily Bread Food Bank. Following the run, the team stopped by the local firehall (pictured right) and donated toys to the community effort ahead of the holidays.

On December 7, for the second consecutive year, the U13 A Markham Islanders and U15 A Vaughan Rangers took part in CTV’s Toy Mountain campaign at Vaughan Mills Legoland.

U10 AA and U14 AA Toronto East Enders support Ted Reeve Hockey Association effort with donation to Community Centre 55’s Share A Christmas Program

“We may be rivals on the ice, but off, we are all one team… one community!” 

The U10 AA and U14 AA Toronto East Enders supported Ted Reeve Hockey Association’s effort, in partnership with Bob Acton Sports and Beast Athletics, to gather new, unwrapped toys and gift cards for Community Centre 55’s Share a Christmas Program.

The team had the goal of filling the East Enders hockey bag – but the effort well surpassed that, filling almost three bags in addition to gift cards and money donated.

The Streetsville Tigers hosted a toy drive as part of the annual Seasonal Celebration game day. The toy drive collected over 185 gifts in support of the Toys for Tots program.

Warren Park Hockey and Toronto Eagles hold bake sale, food drive in support of Daily Bread Food Bank

Over the December 16-17 weekend, Warren Park Hockey and the Toronto Eagles held a bake sale and a food drive in support of the Daily Bread Food Bank. The funds raised and the 27 bags collected were later dropped off at the local firehall.
