Mississauga Terriers take on “His fight is our fight” motto in support of teammate

The Mississauga Terriers have adopted the motto of “His fight is our fight” in support of Under-18 player Matthew MacIntosh who has recently been diagnosed with a rare form of Leukemia.

A message from the Terriers’ General Manager Jack Brooks:

We have a young man that plays on our U18 team that has been diagnosed with a rare form of Leukemia. Needless to say, it came as quite a shock to his family and has left most of us in disbelief.

Matthew MacIntosh will soon turn 18, but in an instant, the anticipation of a milestone birthday has turned into a fight for his life. The Terriers never have and will never will shy away from a fight, and we believe our hockey family is just as strong as any other. We are adopting the motto, “His Fight is Our Fight,” in an effort to support Matthew and his entire family as they embark on a long journey to overcome this disease.

In the coming weeks and months, we are committed to doing whatever it takes to help Matthew and his family beat this disease and we will do it with unwavering support in whatever form necessary.

All of our players will be wearing helmet stickers to show their support, and as an organization we are planning a number of events to raise funds to help the family overcome some of the hardships that they will be faced with as Matthew undergoes treatment.

Our first initiative is to raise donations through a ribbon drive. Starting on Monday, November 14, we will have available ribbons for sale in the Terrier Lounge upstairs at Erin Mills Arena. Ribbons will be given out to all those who wish to make a minimum donation of $5. All proceeds will go directly to the family. You can also contact me, Jack Brooks, via email to donate.

Thank you again for taking the time to visit our website, we look forward to your support. Please continue to monitor our website for updates and new initiatives or follow us on social media.
