Pressing Pause: 2018 PlayStation Platinum Cup Recap

In-between games of NHL 19 and meeting Toronto Maple Leafs alumni, teams participating in the 2018 PlayStation Platinum Cup found the time to squeeze in some on-ice competition. Twenty-four teams started the tournament, but only three could go home as PlayStation Platinum Cup champions.

Atom A
After only recording two regular-season losses, the Riverside Rangers came up just short against the Markham Waxers in the Atom A gold medal game. With a round-robin record of 2-1-0, the Waxers handed the undefeated Rangers their first loss of the tournament in a 3-2 victory, earning themselves a nice shiny gold medal.

Atom AA
Finishing the round-robin without a win, the Mississauga Jets flew through the elimination rounds with ease, scoring a spot in the gold medal final against the undefeated Eastern Ontario Cobras. The Cobras would end the tournament with a gold medal and an undefeated record.

Gold: Eastern Ontario Cobras
Silver: Mississauga Jets
Bronze: North Toronto

Atom AAA
Headed into the tournament on a five-game winning streak, the Vaughan Kings were the only team to record three straight wins in round-robin play. The Kings continued their dominance into the elimination rounds, defeating the Whitby Wildcats in the gold medal matchup.

Gold: Vaughan Kings
Silver: Whitby Wildcats
Bronze: Halton Hurricanes
