Team Blue kicks off U18 All-Star Festival fuelled by Gatorade with 10-7 win in ‘A’ match-up

The Greater Toronto Hockey League hosted its 23rd annual Under-18 All-Star Festival fuelled by Gatorade on Saturday, January 25 at Scotiabank Pond. The festival got started with the U18 ‘A’ All-Stars in a morning match. 

To kick-off the All-Star festivities, Team Red’s Joshua Costa (Toronto Eagles) and Sasha Cooke (York Mills) from Team Blue joined Director of Marketing for Gatorade Canada Adam Day and GTHL Director Don Bamford at centre ice for the ceremonial puck drop.

The All-Stars came ready to play as both teams potted two goals in the first period. 

With the score locked at two-a-piece to start the middle frame, Team Blue came out hot to net four more goals. Team Red got one back to make it a score of 6-3 for the blue shirts heading into the third period.  

Team Blue added four goals in the final frame, with Team Red pushing for the comeback but ultimately falling short in a high-scoring 10-7 final.

Nathan Leonard (West Mmall Lightning) recorded one goal and three assists for Team Blue, earning Gatorade Player of the Game honours. 

For Team Red, Luke Wunder (Avenue Road Ducks) was named the Gatorade Player of the Game after posting two goals and two assists.
