World Juniors Features Five GTHL Grads

Canada’s favourite Boxing Day tradition will feature five GTHL grads sporting the maple leaf. Taking place in Buffalo, NY, the 2018 World Junior Championship marks the second tournament for Marlboros alumni Michael McLeod and Taylor Raddysh, while Victor Mete, Alex Formenton, and Jordan Kyrou will make their tournament debuts on December 26.

All five players have been drafted by NHL clubs, with McLeod being the lone first-round pick (selected 12th overall by the New Jersey Devils in 2016) amongst the grads chosen. Victor Mete was loaned to Team Canada by the Montreal Canadiens where he had been playing alongside Shea Weber before becoming a healthy scratch.

The 2018 World Junior Championship will reunite Marlboros teammates Michael McLeod and Taylor Raddysh.

Team Canada will be on the hunt for its first World Junior gold medal since 2015. Last year’s final in Montreal saw Canada fall to the United States in the gold medal matchup.
