Greatness Awaits.
That is not only the slogan for PlayStation, but also a beckoning of things to come this weekend at MasterCard Centre in Etobicoke.
Of the 24 teams competing in the inaugural PlayStation Platinum Cup, three will skate off as champions on Sunday – one each at the Atom A, AA and AAA levels.
Powered by the Toronto Maple Leafs and GTHL, the tournament features a total of 57 games – including the gold medal matches – as well as a keynote address by Brendan Shanahan at the Maple Leafs’ morning skate on Saturday.
Back at MasterCard Centre, players, families and fans can hop between the Sony PlayStation booth – which features multiple PS4 demos – and autograph sessions with Maple Leafs alumni. There also is a silent auction with top-notch items such as courtside Raptors tickets and signed memorabilia.
All proceeds from the event will benefit Camp Ooch, a camp for kids with and affected by childhood cancer. The organization also has a booth set up between Rinks 1 and 4, with activities for children and information for parents.
Teams from the GTHL, Ontario Minor Hockey Association, Hockey Eastern Ontario and Hockey Quebec will be vying for spots in the three finals on Sunday.
