A busy tournament weekend saw only 196 regular-season games added to the schedule over the weekend.

Midget Jr. A
A battle between the first and last place teams in the East division went down to the wire, with the Goulding Park Rangers narrowly edging the Toronto Aeros 3-2 to improve to 13-1-0 (26 points) this season. The Rangers, who own a five-game win streak, had earned 8-2 victories over the Aeros in each of their previous two meetings this season (Sept. 27 and Oct. 31).
The Hillcrest Canadiens (8-3-1, 17 points) moved into second place in the division after dousing the Leaside Flames with a 9-2 victory on Friday. The Flames (6-5-2, 14 points) rebounded for a 3-2 decision against the Ted Reeve Thunder.
The East Enders Ticats (3-9-2, 8 points) snapped a five-game slide with a 6-3 win over the North York Knights.
A three-way tug-of-war for top spot in the West is raging between the Avalanche (9-2-0), Toronto Royals (8-2-2) and Vaughan Rangers (8-2-2), who all sit locked at 18 points.
The Avalanche picked up an 8-2 win over the Humberview Huskies on Friday before falling to the Rangers 5-3 on Sunday. Despite the setback, the Avalanche maintain an edge over the Royals and Rangers by virtue of having played one fewer game.
Other finals from Midget Jr. A weekend action:
East – East Enders Ticats 6, North York Knights 3
West – Toronto Wolverines 5, Duffield Devils 2
West – Humber Valley Sharks 9, Humberview Huskies 1

Bantam AA
It was close, but the East Enders Ticats made it through another weekend without a loss. The club played to a 2-2 tie with North Toronto on Sunday in the back end of a home-and-home set (Nov. 4: 2-1 W). Overall, the Ticats moved to 10-0-2 (22 points) in 2015-16 – nearly perfect, but not good enough for top spot in the division.
That distinction belongs to the Toronto Aces (idle), who sit atop the standings with an unblemished record of 12-0-0 (24 points) through their first dozen games.
Should the Aces and Ticats earn points in their games vs. the West Hill Golden Hawks (Nov. 9: 8:30 p.m. at Scarborough Centennial Arena) and Hillcrest Canadiens (Nov. 10: 8:40 p.m. at Fenside), respectively, a battle between the division’s two undefeated teams will take on Wednesday at Scarborough Gardens (7:35 p.m.).
The West has a crowd gathering atop the standings, with six teams within four points of first place.
The Vaughan Panthers (9-1-1, 19 points) are on top of the heap, following weekend victories over the Humberview Huskies (3-1 W) and Toronto Royals (7-1 W). The Mississauga North Stars (9-2-1) also have 19 points, but have played one more game than Vaughan.
Also in the mix are the Mississauga Terriers (7-1-4, 18 points), Mississauga Jets (8-1-2, 18 points), Toronto Eagles (8-3-1, 17 points) and Mississauga Braves (6-3-3, 15 points). The Eagles were the only of those clubs to play on the weekend, earning a 1-0 win over the West Mall Lightning.
Honourable mention goes to the Humber Valley Sharks (5-2-3, 13 points) and Ice Warriors (5-3-3, 13 points), who round out the top eight.
Other finals from Bantam AA weekend action:
East – Willowdale Blackhawks 4, North York Knights 3
East – Forest Hill 3, Leaside Flames 1
West – Toronto Royals 4, West Mall Lightning 2

Peewee AAA
With the Mississauga Reps organization hosting the Shanahan Warrior International tournament, only one regular-season game took place over the weekend – and it was a big one!
The Toronto Marlboros outlasted the Toronto Titans for a 6-5 victory on Friday at Etobicoke Ice Sports to maintain their undefeated record in 2015-16.
At 10-0-1 (21 points), the Marlboros are tied with the Don Mills Flyers (10-1-1, 21 points) for top spot in the division. Toronto, however, owns one game in hand. The two clubs, who tied in their first meeting on Sept. 25, will face off on Tuesday, Nov. 10 at Victoria Village (7:40 p.m.).
Of the 35 Peewee AAA teams that participated in the Shanahan tournament over the weekend, seven were from the GTHL. The Flyers advanced to the final, where they took a 1-0 lead into the third period but ended up with a silver medal after yielding two unanswered goals to the Ottawa Jr. Senators.
