Toronto (January 5, 2011) – Team Ontario Director of Operations Matt Rabideau along with Head Coach Dave Milek, Assistant Coaches Tony Ciampa and Nathan Herrington have named 8 GTHL Players to the Team Ontario Under 16 Team that will compete at the 2011 Canada Winter games in Halifax from February 11 to February 18, 2011.
Adam Bateman of the Don Mills Flyers, Bryson Cianfrone of the Toronto Marlboros, Max Domi of the Don Mills Flyers, Spencer Martin of the Toronto Jr. Canadiens, Darnell Nurse of the Don Mills Flyers, David Perklin of the Toronto Marlboros, Nicholas Ritchie of the Toronto Marlboros and Jordan Subban of the Toronto Marlboros were all selected to the team. In addition, Jordan DeKort of the Markham Majors, Mark Friedman of the Don Mills Flyers and Brandon Robinson of the Toronto Jr. Canadiens were named as alternates.
The team will depart for Halifax on February 10th where they will compete in the 2011 Canada Winter Games beginning February 11th through February 18th 2011. The tournament features 12 teams comprised of three pools. Ten Provinces, The North West Territories and the Yukon comprise the 12 teams who will be competing for the Gold medal. Based on the 2007 Canada Winter Games rankings Team Ontario is seeded first and is in Pool A that also features Team British Columbia, Team Quebec and Team Nova Scotia. A schedule of games will be posted on the HDCO website when it becomes available.
