GTHL mourns the loss of Ian Traill

The Greater Toronto Hockey League is saddened by the news of the passing of former Board Member and Third Vice President Ian Traill, who passed away on May 2 – one day short of his 83rd birthday.

Traill was dedicated to youth sports, spending a number of years as a coach and mentor for his daughter’s softball teams at Amesbury Sports Club, and for his son’s ‘AA’ hockey teams at Goulding Park. Beyond the bench, Traill served as a GTHL Board of Director and later held the role of Third Vice President from 1991 to 1998.

In addition to Traill’s commitment to minor athletes, the Dundee, Scotland native prioritized giving back to the community, fundraising for the United Way and delivering Meals on Wheels.

The GTHL and its community will keep Traill’s wife Patricia, their children Linda (Randy), Pauline, and Jeff (Kareen), as well as their grandchildren and great-grandchildren in our thoughts during this time.
