The 10th edition of the annual Under-21 AAA all-star event will again feature GTHL President John Gardner and longtime head coach Ray Heslop behind the bench to renew a rivalry that started many years ago.
Team Gardner will face Team Heslop in two games on Saturday, Jan. 31 at Herb Carnegie Arena:
Veterans Game – 4:00 p.m.
TEAM GARDNER vs. TEAM HESLOP
Young Guns Game – 6:15 p.m.
TEAM GARDNER vs. TEAM HESLOP
The Gardner-led Lido Bruins and Heslop’s J & R Hawks were legendary teams in the Under-21 division for decades. Since, Gardner has kept a close eye on the Under-21 AAA hockey scene and has helped steer the group to the success it has had.
Heslop, meanwhile, has served as a sounding board for players, coaches and teams since his time behind the bench. The Ray Heslop Juvenile Dedication Award was established in 2005 and is presented to the Under-21 player or team official who best exemplifies the true spirit of Under-21 hockey.
Team Gardner features players from the Mississauga Braves, West Mall Lightning, Goulding Park Rangers and Toronto Aeros.
Team Heslop boasts a group of Humberview Huskies, Toronto Colts, Scarborough Young Bruins and Mississauga Ice Warriors.
Admission: $5.00 (includes three chances to win one of two draws)
