After getting back into the regular season routine, October seems relatively quiet in comparison to the whirlwind that is the first few weeks of the season. Here’s what’s happening in hockey during the month of October.

Rebels Mania Tournament
October 5-8
Before filling up their plates with turkey on Thanksgiving Monday, Select teams from Tyke to Midget will compete in the Rebels Mania tournament hosted by Thornhill Community Hockey. While most Select teams have yet to start their regular season schedule, the tournament will act as the perfect opportunity for coaches to test out team chemistry.
Leafs Home Opener
October 7
The Buds will take to the ice at the Air Canada Centre on Saturday, October 7 for their home opener against the New York Rangers. The exciting young squad includes three GTHL alumni in Mitch Marner, Zach Hyman, and Connor Brown.
Humberview Huskies “AA” Invitational
October 13-15
A month after dropping the puck on the GTHL regular season, “AA” teams from Atom to Midget will put their early season skills to the test at the Humberview Huskies “AA” Invitational. Schedules and additional tournament information can be found on the official tournament website.
Scotiabank Cup
October 20-22
The 20th annual rendition of the Mississauga North Stars Scotiabank Cup will see “AA” teams across all divisions compete over three days. The tournament attracts dozens of highly competitive teams each year and is guaranteed to be a weekend filled with tight competition.
