GTHL Weekend Roundup: Oct. 23-25
The last full weekend of October was the busiest since Puck Drop Weekend (300 GP), with 274 games contested.

Bantam A
The pursuit of perfection is alive and well for the Leaside Flames (10-0-0, 20 points) and Toronto Aeros (8-0-0, 16 points), who both earned victories over the weekend. The top-ranked Flames posted a 5-1 victory over the West Hill Golden Hawks while the Aeros skated to an 11-2 rout of the Scarborough Ice Raiders.
Both clubs play Tuesday and if they are victorious, a showdown between undefeated clubs will take place on Halloween at Herb Carnegie Arena (5:15 p.m.).
Meanwhile, fourth-place Forest Hill (5-2-1, 11 points) earned a pair of 2-1 victories over North Toronto and the Toronto Colts.
Before their defeat, the Colts (1-6-1, 3 points) posted their first victory of the season with a 7-1 decision over the Toronto Shamrocks.
In the West, the Vaughan Rangers and West Mall Lightning own identical 6-2-0 (12 points) records after each club won both their weekend contests.
Vaughan stretched its winning streak to five games with victories over the Toronto Wolverines (5-1 W) and Toronto Eagles (8-2 W). West Mall posted a pair of shut outs over the Toronto Royals (7-0 W and 3-0 W), their fourth and fifth blank sheets of the season, respectively.
The Humber Valley Sharks improved to 3-4-0 (6 points) with wins over the Eagles (8-1 W) and Wolverines (6-1 W).

Minor Peewee AA
Goaltending could decide how the East is won. Two of the top four teams in the division – the Leaside Flames (7-2-0, 14 points) and Scarborough Young Bruins (6-2-1, 13 points) – posted shutouts to improve their records over the weekend.
The Flames allowed a total of two goals over their two weekend games, first shutting out York Mills 6-0 on Friday – their second blank sheet of the season – before falling 2-1 to the Goulding Park Rangers on Sunday.
Meanwhile, the Bruins earned their second and third shutouts of the season against North Toronto (8-0 W) and York Mills (1-0 W), respectively.
Overall, the top four teams – the Don Mills Mustangs (7-1-0, 14 points), Flames, Ted Reeve Thunder (7-2-0, 14 points) and Bruins – have combined for nine blank sheets in 2015-16. They all hold a goals-against average of less than 2.00 (Scarborough: 1.11; Don Mills: 1.13; Ted Reeve: 1.33; and Leaside: 1.44)
North Toronto earned three of four points in their double-header with the Willowdale Blackhawks, earning a 4-1 win and 2-2 tie.
In the West, the Toronto Wolverines (2-6-1, 5 points) picked up their first two wins of the season on the weekend, posting 1-0 and 3-1 victories over the Humber Valley Sharks and Avalanche, respectively.
The Humberview Huskies also picked up a pair of weekend wins to improve to 4-3-1 (9 points). The Huskies defeated the Toronto Eagles 5-3 and Avalanche 3-2.
Three teams – the Vaughan Rangers (6-1-2, 14 points), Toronto Eagles (5-4-0, 10 points) and Streetsville Tigers (4-3-2, 10 points) – also posted wins to inch closer to the undefeated Mississauga Braves (8-0-1, 17 points):

Minor Atom AAA
The Mississauga Senators (6-1-1) and Toronto Jr. Canadiens (6-0-1) battled to a 3-3 draw on Sunday to remain tied atop the division standings with 13 points. The Senators earned a victory in their other weekend game – a 4-0 decision against the Markham Majors.
On the heels of both clubs are the Toronto Marlboros (6-2-0, 12 points) – the only team to defeat the Senators this season – and Toronto Red Wings (6-1-0, 12 points).
The Marlboros split a double-header with the fifth-place Vaughan Kings (5-3-0, 10 points), earning a 4-0 victory Friday and falling 6-3 on Saturday.
Meanwhile, the Red Wings are the hottest team in the division after picking up their third consecutive victory on Saturday (5-0 vs. North York Rangers).
Rounding out the top seven teams are the Don Mills Flyers (4-2-1, 9 points) and Toronto Young Nationals (3-4-2, 8 points). The Flyers picked up a 7-1 victory over the Mississauga Reps while the Nationals edged the Majors 4-3.
