Nutrition Tuesday: Power Pucks

Establishing healthy eating habits at home is a key component in improving your on-ice performance. Feeding your body with the fuel needed for every shift will help you seamlessly transition back to the ice when the time comes. Every Tuesday, nutritionist Seanna Thomas will be bringing you recipes and nutrition tips via the GTHL Instagram that will help to build healthy routines. For Tuesday, August 4 Seanna will be making a Power Pucks – the perfect post-game snack. You’ll need:

Power Pucks:

Ingredients:

1/2 cup nut butter
1/3 cup honey or maple syrup
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup rolled oats
2/3 cup sunflower seeds or unsweetened coconut flakes
1/2 cup ground flax or hemp hearts
1/4 cup dark chocolate, melted (optional)

Directions:

Melt nut butter and honey in a large bowl.
Add in vanilla and stir.
Add in oats, coconut, flax, hemp, chia and mix really well until everything is combined.
Scoop out about 2 tbsp at a time, make into a ball and flatten into a puck shape. Batter should make 10-12.
Let cool completely in fridge.

Optional: Add melted chocolate on top before putting in fridge to make them look more like a “puck”.
