GTHL hosting free women and girls coaching clinics for fifth consecutive season

The Greater Toronto Hockey League is working with the We Are Coaches program to offer free women and girls coaching clinics for the fifth consecutive season. New this year, the GTHL will be offering Skating 1 and Skills 1 clinics for women and girls. The clinics will take place on March 8, 2025 at Scotiabank Pond.

The We Are Coaches program is of no cost, open to women and girls for coach training designed to increase the number of women trained as coaches in Canada. The goal is to develop and further provide mentors and role models for young participants.

We Are Coaches strives to:

  • Help build infrastructure to support and sustain the participation of girls and women in hockey in Canada
  • Develop women role models and leaders within the hockey community
  • Remove barriers to coaching education for women

In the Skating Level 1 and Skills Level 1, coaches will learn how to teach skating and skills to players of all ages in a progressive manner. This means coaches will learn how to teach skating and skills by building from skills to individual tactics. This course includes on-ice training with coaches designing and delivering topics.

Please note coaches will be required to bring skates a CSA approved helmet, gloves, and a stick for the on-ice component. Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your clinic start time for registration. You must be at least 16 years old to register.
