The Greater Toronto Hockey League is excited to announce the return of the King Clancy Cup for the 2024-25 season. The King Clancy Cup makes its return for the first time since the 2018-19 season.
The 2025 King Clancy Cup is open to non-playoff ‘A’ teams from the GTHL and the Mississauga Hockey League (MHL), in addition to non-playoff ‘AA’ and ‘AAA’ teams from the GTHL. The tournament is open to any Hockey Canada sanctioned, Ontario Hockey Federation (OHF), or teams from the United States that meet the eligibility criteria. Other teams may participate with the necessary approval from tournament officials.
“It’s important that we provide all teams in the GTHL a chance to play hockey into April to continue the opportunity for development and fun,” Peter Kourtis, General Manager of the GTHL, said. “While some teams will strive for a playoff championship, the King Clancy tournament allows other teams the chance to play competitive and meaningful hockey up until tryouts. We look forward to teams from the east and west playing each other, and hope teams from the [Ontario Minor Hockey Association] and Alliance join us for some great competition and fun.”
The schedule for the tournament will be a rolling release. This will mirror that of the GTHL’s League schedule release. Under-10 to U12 divisions can begin as early as March 10, and U13 to U16 divisions can begin as early as February 24. Games will be played during March Break (March 10 to March. 14). GTHL rinks that are used for the League’s regular season will be where tournament games are held.
Registration for the 2025 King Clancy Cup is to be announced at a later date.
