Humber Valley Sharks goaltender organizes fundraiser, raises over $19,000 for people of Ukraine

The goaltender for the Under-11 ‘A’ Humber Valley Sharks, Lucas MacDonald, wanted to make a difference in the lives of Ukrainian people.

The 10-year-old chose to organize a friendly hockey game to fundraise, incredibly raising over $19,000 to support the people of Ukraine. With the help of the Humber Valley Hockey Association, MacDonald and his friends invited the community to the game held on March 10 at Centennial Arena. If people were able, donations were encouraged with all proceeds going to the Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal.

MacDonald began with the goal of $500, quickly surpassing it by the thousands.
