The Ontario Hockey League held the sixth annual OHL Under-18 Priority Selection for ‘AAA’ hockey players in Ontario on May 5, featuring a leading 18 players from the Greater Toronto Hockey League.
With a total of 52 players selected from 32 different teams, GTHL players made up 34 per cent of the draft representing 11 clubs. The Central Region U18 ‘AAA’ champion, Reps Hockey Club, led the way with five players selected, with the Markham Majors, North York Rangers, and Toronto Young Nationals right behind with two each. The Don Mills Flyers, Mississauga Rebels, Mississauga Senators, Thunder Bay Kings, Toronto Jr. Canadiens, Toronto Red Wings, and the Vaughan Kings all had one player selected.
The 18 players selected included nine forwards, four defensemen, and five goaltenders.
The top three selections included Thunder Bay goaltender Nate Krawchuk to the Sudbury Wolves at third overall.
