2014 OHL Cup competing teams

The Ontario Hockey League in association with the Greater Toronto Hockey League today announced all competing teams for the 2014 OHL Cup Showcase Tournament, hosted by the GTHL, to be played March 11-16, 2014, at Buckingham Arena in Toronto.

The list of 2014 OHL Cup competing teams includes a total of 23 Minor Midget AAA teams from across Ontario and the United States.  The final tournament structure will include 20 spots with 17 guaranteed through league competition and the other three earned in a series of wild card games introduced to the tournament structure this season.

*Wild card play-in game invitees were determined by a tournament selection committee based on regular-season, playoff, and tournament play.

The three wild card tournament spots will be determined among six teams that include the four wild card play-in game invitees, along with the loser of the ALLIANCE semifinal wild card series, and the fifth place team from this weekend’s OMHA Championship.  Those six teams will play a one game ‘win-and-in’ scenario on Tuesday, March 11, prior to the official start of the 2014 OHL Cup.

Wild card play-in game match-ups will be determined the evening of Monday, March 10. Wild card games will be played Tuesday, March 11 at 12:00, 2:00, and 4:00 p.m. at Buckingham Arena. A complete schedule and divisional alignment will be released on Monday.
