The Greater Toronto Hockey League (GTHL) announced today the addition of two new members to the League, effective starting in the 2024-25 Season. 

Thorncrest Hockey Association has been welcomed as a new House League community program. This new organization is the result of a merge of the Thornhill Community Hockey League (TCHL) and the Hillcrest Village Community Hockey Association (HVCHA). Both the TCHL and HVCHA will cease operations at the conclusion of the 2023-24 season.

Additionally, TOP Hockey has joined the GTHL as a new member and will operate Learn-to-Play programming as well as some “A” and “AA” programs. The “A” and “AA” teams will participate in exhibition games and tournaments for the initial three seasons. Following the conclusion of the third season, a review will be conducted to determine any necessary changes regarding their member status. 

Scott Oakman, Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer, expressed the League’s enthusiasm upon welcoming these new programs, stating, “The GTHL is excited about the changes these two members bring to the League. The amalgamation of the TCHL and HVCHA will allow the organization to pool its resources and provide a better experience for the players and families involved.”  

“The TOP Hockey model offers an alternative hockey experience for families seeking to balance other athletic endeavours and family commitments while still participating in learn-to-play and competitive hockey,” Oakman concluded. 

Both programs officially become Members following the GTHL Annual Meeting in July of 2024.
