Around the G: Dec. 9-11

With only a few games left until the Winter break, teams are determined to start the holidays on a high note.

Atom A

After a long break from regular season action, North Toronto (17-2-3) continued their dominance of the division after a 4-3 win over the Toronto Aeros. The race for second place also got a lot tighter after York Mills (15-2-4) recorded a win on Saturday. They are now tied for second with the Willowdale Blackhawks (15-3-4) and the Leaside Flames (15-4-4) with a game in hand over both teams. The rest of the division should keep an eye on the Don Mills Mustangs (15-4-3) who won their third straight on the weekend. They are now within one point of second place.

Standings in the West remain consistent with the Vaughan Rangers (19-0-1) maintaining a five point lead for first. The Avalanche (12-8-1) have quickly shot up the standings after winning five straight, including a 4-1 win over the Duffield Devils on Saturday. They are currently tied with the third place Humber Valley Sharks (11-5-3) with 25 points.

Peewee AA

A 10-0 blowout over the Willowdale Blackhawks has put the Scarborough Young Burins (21-1-2) in first with a nine point lead. The second place Ted Reeve Thunder (16-3-3) won their fourth straight on Sunday, allowing them to sit confidently in second place. The Goulding Park Rangers (10-4-9) recorded another win, extending their streak to five games. The team hasn’t seen a loss since late October.

The Vaughan Rangers (21-2-1) continued a near perfect season with a win over the Mississauga Terriers. Their only defeat this season came at the hands of the Ice Warriors (17-4-2) who sit six points back of first with a game in hand. Teams should keep an eye on the Vaughan Panthers (14-5-3) who have won five of their last six.

Bantam AAA

The first place Mississauga Reps (19-3-2) continued their tear, extending their winning streak to nine games with a win over the Don Mills Flyers. The Toronto Marlboros (17-3-2) remain right on the Rep’s tail after two back-to-back wins over the weekend. The Marlboros now sit four points back of first with two games in hand. Teams should keep an eye on the Jr. Canadiens (16-5-2) who have won five of their last six.
