Build Inclusion Into Your Coaching Strategy

The GTHL has partnered with You Can Play to present a workshop specifically for minor hockey coaches taking place virtually on Tuesday, January 19.

Diversity and Inclusion are words used often in sport and society these days but what impact can they have on coaching? In this session, we will introduce coaches to some key elements of inclusion and discuss their impact on player confidence, team cohesion and strengthening team culture.

All skill levels are welcome, regardless of the age, gender or skill level you coach: we will all be better coaches by the end of this session. Coaches will receive 3 professional development points for attending the session.

The session will be approximately one hour. Attendance will be taken during the session. The Zoom link to the session will be sent out by 10:00 AM the day of the online workshop.

About You Can Play
The You Can Play Project works to ensure the safety and inclusion for all who participate in sports, including LGBTQ+ athletes, coaches and fans. We achieve this by creating a community of allies that is able to foster a true sense of belonging. This becomes possible when sports teams sharpen the focus on the person’s skills, work ethic, and competitive spirit, not their sexual orientation, gender identity or expression. You Can Play seeks to challenge the culture of locker rooms and spectator areas by developing a culture of respect, in every player, coach and fan. www.youcanplayproject.org
