The Greater Toronto Hockey League (GTHL) closed out the 2016-17 season at the 2017 Annual General Meeting on Saturday, June 17, 2017.
The Board for the upcoming 2017-18 season will consist of six Officers – President Don West, First Vice President Ken Smith, Second Vice President Gordon Mc Donald, Third Vice President John Neville, Treasurer John Trimble and Immediate Past President John Gardner. The eight Directors elected to their positions are Steve Allmen, Andrew Kidd, David Leathem, Mike Lewicki, Wally Turner and Brian Webster, Keven Wilson, Phil Wolfenden. After nineteen years on the Board of Directors, Chick Evans was honoured as a GTHL Life Member, and will continue to lend his time and expertise to the League. He is the 19th individual to be given the honour.
The meeting provided an opportunity to honour the Duffield Sports Club, who are headed into their 60th season. Duffield has competitive teams at the “A” and “AA” levels, as well as large house league program.
The League membership also considered and ratified various By-Law, Rule and Regulation Amendments. In addition, the League presented its Audited Financial Statements for the fiscal year end of April 30, 2017.
Several committees informed members of new initiatives that will be implemented this coming season, including Hockey Canada’s new Initiation Program. Reports from the President and Executive Director/Chief Operating Officer were also made, highlighting the achievements throughout the season.
