The Greater Toronto Hockey League‘s top 15-year olds put on a show last evening at Herbert Carnegie Centennial Centre in the inaugural GTHL Top Prospects Game held on January 22.

Team Flatley, coached by former New York Islanders captain Pat Flatley, edged Team Clark, coached by former Toronto Maple Leafs captain Wendel Clark, 4-0.

The first period was a close checking affair with no scoring but had several big bodychecks being laid. Team Flatley‘s Trevor Petersen opened the scoring in the second period with assists from Gianluca Curcuruto and Robert Polesello. Christopher Marchese from Team Flatley scored an unassisted goal later in the second period to give Team Flatley a 2 -0 lead. Andres Kopstals scored early in the third period with assists from Kyle Rowe and Slater Doggett. Later in the third period Marchese scored his second goal of the night from Christopher Shugart to round out the night’s scoring.

Don Cherry was on hand to select and present the MVP awards to a player from each team. Team Flatley’s Polesello and Team Clark‘s Matia Marcantuoni were named by Mr. Cherry. Each player received a glass trophy and gifts from Bauer Hockey and Pro Hockey Life.
