Position Title: Coordinator, Communications and Marketing

Position Description
The Greater Toronto Hockey League is accepting applications for the Coordinator, Communications and Marketing position. As a key member of the staff reporting to the Manager of Membership Services, the Coordinator Communications and Marketing is the communications lead for the GTHL. The chosen candidate will be responsible for communications within the League and its departments. This person will also be a member of the GTHL Events team and participate in event planning and execution.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Oversee and maintain day-to-day communications, website updates, and engagement on all GTHL Social Media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tik Tok etc
- Update GTHLCanada.com as required as well as oversee and produce content for GTHLCanada.com, including, but not limited to; player stories, game recaps, sponsored content, community-based pieces, press releases etc.
- Direct graphic designer on the creation of communications materials surrounding GTHL events and initiatives
- Oversee photography and videography production for GTHL initiatives
- Coordinate the production and distribution of the GTHL monthly email newsletters and customize newsletters to segments of membership
- Oversee photography and videography production for GTHL initiatives
- Edit Breakout Magazine: responsible for concept development, content pagination, production and overall project management including collaborating with external writers, photographers, graphic designers, and printers
- Produce, edit, and distribute, GTHL media releases and League documents
- Develop partnerships with post-secondary programs and recruit interns for communications and media initiatives
- Assist in the development and execution of GTHL special projects including alumni engagement, player recognition, GTHL Transition game initiatives, etc.
- Assist Coordinator of Marketing and Sponsorships to service all GTHL corporate partnerships by ensuring the proper delivery and execution of sponsor benefits and programs
- Work closely with the Executive Director, General Manager and direct manager, as well as several committees, on long term strategic planning as it relates to communications, marketing, sponsorships.
- Develop new communications and social media campaigns
- Assist in the planning and execution of GTHL Special Events, including but not limited to: Puck Drop Weekend, U12/13 Tom Wilson Classic, Scotiabank GTHL Top Prospects Game, U18 All Star Festival, OHL Cup, PlayStation Platinum Cup, Pro Hockey Life King Clancy Cup, GTHL Awards Gala, GTHL Annual General Meeting, and GTHL Legacy Classic Golf Tournament.
- Maintain important business relationships with external agencies, media, and consultants.

Education and Experience:
- Diploma or Degree in sport management, marketing, communications or related discipline (i.e business admin or recreation)
- Experience within a sports organization or non-profit with Hockey knowledge being an asset
- Strong combination of education and experiences in communications, sports management, marketing, and sponsorship
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong writing and editorial skills
- Strong working knowledge of: MS Office – Word, Power Point, Excel, Outlook, social media apps and platforms
- Knowledge and experience in use of WordPress and/or website management systems
- Knowledge and experience in use of Adobe applications and other design apps
- Strong organizational/time management skills and ability to handle deadlines and problem solve in time sensitive situations
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment when required to balance hands-on execution with organizing and monitoring other projects
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to interact and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, volunteers and executives
- Ability to assist in the set-up of events, lift equipment, and be inside a hockey rink for extended periods of time
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as necessary
- Knowledge of key trends in media and communications
