While many may measure time in hockey seasons, the start of a new calendar year offers an opportunity to look at the passing of time a little differently. There’s been a lot of excitement around the League during the past 12 months, and although some of these stories stretch over into last season, they still fall under 2017. Here’s what the GTHL community has been reading over the past year.

Greater Toronto Hockey League Announces Details For GTHL Top Prospects Game, Powered by Under Armour
The 9th annual GTHL Top Prospects Game, Powered by Under Armour saw 40 of the top Minor Midget AAA prospects take to the ice to showcase their talents.  Spectators packed Scotiabank Pond to witness Team Clark-Weaver-Corson take on Team Graves-Primeau Tucker. Click here to read the story.

Greater Toronto Hockey League Announces Details Surrounding 2017 Midget All-Star Festival
Two weeks into 2017, over 115 Midget-aged players participated in the 16th annual Midget All-Star Festival. Players from “A”, AA” and “AAA” divisions took over Rink 1 at Scotiabank Pond for back-to-back-to-back games. The 2018 rendition of the event will see a single evening dedicated to each division from February 5 to 9. Click here to read the 2017 announcement.

82 GTHL Players Selected in 2017 OHL Priority Selection
Brandon Coe
of the Toronto Young Nationals was the first GTHL player to be drafted when he was selected third overall by the North Bay Batallion. Seven GTHL players were selected in the top 10, with a total of 82 players from 11 different Minor Midget teams selected in the draft. Click here to see the full story.
