GTHL and Dairy Farmers of Canada announce two-year sponsorship

All GTHL competitive teams to sport Recharge with Milk jersey crest

TORONTO (September 17, 2015) – The Greater Toronto Hockey League (GTHL) and Dairy Farmers of Canada today announced a new two-year sponsorship agreement making milk (Recharge with Milk) the Official Recovery Product of the GTHL.

As part of the new deal, all GTHL A, AA, and AAA teams will sport a Recharge with Milk crest on their jerseys for the next two seasons. The new agreement is in addition to the Recharge with Milk House League Team Sponsorship Program that was established last season and remains in place for this season.

The new sponsorship will allow the GTHL to stabilize the Player Registration Fee in future years and ultimately make minor hockey more affordable for GTHL families.

“Our partnership extension with Recharge with Milk and Dairy Farmers of Canada is an exciting step toward making our sport more accessible and appealing to families across the Greater Toronto Area,” said Scott Oakman, executive director of the GTHL. “It also aligns our brands more closely and will allow our athletes to learn more about the nutritional benefits of drinking milk as part of their daily routine.”

“We are extremely pleased with extending this continued partnership with as many as 10,000 competitive athletes at the elite hockey level,” said Ralph Dietrich, Dairy Farmers of Canada board member and chair of Dairy Farmers of Ontario. “Playing hockey and drinking milk are quintessentially Canadian.”

“The GTHL partnership provides a great opportunity for the Recharge with Milk team to reach a community of elite hockey players who can greatly benefit from the recharging power of milk and chocolate milk. Dairy Farmers of Canada is proud to promote milk as the Official Recovery Product brand of the GTHL and will help energize the players after every practice and game,” said Dietrich.

Milk and chocolate milk are delicious sources of calcium, vitamin D and other vital nutrients, and provides an ideal mix of fluids, carbs and protein to rehydrate, refuel and recharge your body after intense exercise. Making milk a part of your regular post-workout routine may assist recovery faster and boost the effects of training.

Other components of the sponsorship agreement include significant Recharge with Milk presence at several GTHL events throughout the course of the season, as well as educational nutrition content in GTHL print, online and social media properties that will be a great resource for GTHL families.

The agreement begins with the 2015-16 season and runs through the end of the 2016-17 season. For more information about the GTHL, please visit GTHLCanada.com. For more information on Recharge with Milk, please visit rechargewithmilk.ca.
