In his much anticipated debut in Toronto, former Don Mills Flyer Max Domi certainly impressed. While not a ranking of the best or most successful hockey families, we look at some notable hockey lineages.
10. The Nylanders
William is one of the Leafs’ top prospects and his father Michael accumulated 679 points in the NHL. William’s brother Alexander is currently racking up points with the Mississauga Steelheads.
9. The Primeaus
Both Wayne and Keith were First Round draft picks, and you may see them around the GTHL rinks…
8. The Sedins
Henrik and Daniel sit third and fourth, respectively, among all Swedish-born players. They may also share a brain on the ice.
7. The Staals
Imagine the backyard hockey games played in Thunder Bay between Eric, Marc, Jordan and Jared?
6. The Hulls
Brothers Bobby and Dennis both had long, remarkable NHL careers. Brett, son of Bobby, has the third most goals in NHL history (behind Gretzky and Howe).
5. Max and Tie Domi
We take pride in calling him a GTHL alumni. Max Domi’s NHL career is off to a great start.
4. Brent and Wayne Gretzky
It’s everyone’s favourite piece of NHL trivia! The Gretzky’s have more points than any pair of brothers in history, though Brent only totaled four points in his 13 NHL games.
3. The Espositos
Tony and Phil are both in the Hall of Fame. That should say enough.
2. The Howes
Gordie is one of the best players of all time, and his sons Mark and Marty both went on to have extremely successful professional careers.
1. The Sutters
Generation one: Brent, Brian, Darryl, Duane, Rich and Ron.
Generation two: Brett, Brandon, Brody – and more are on the way.
Those are some good genes.
