Tom Wilson Lends His Name to GTHL Peewee Classic

Greater Toronto Hockey League graduate and current Washington Capitals forward Tom Wilson has lent his name to October’s GTHL Peewee Classic. The tournament will officially be re-named the “Tom Wilson Peewee Classic“.

Starting off his hockey career playing for North Toronto, Tom Wilson was quick to climb the ranks, finishing off his time in the GTHL with the Toronto Jr. Canadiens. In 2010, Tom was drafted out of Minor Midget by the Plymouth Whalers of the Ontario Hockey League – an organization he represented for three seasons. His physical and crafty play caught the eye of the Washington Capitals, who drafted Tom  16th overall in 2012.

This past NHL season, Tom played a crucial role in helping lead the Capitals to a Stanley Cup victory – a first for the franchise.

The Tom Wilson Peewee Classic will take place October 19-21, 2018 at Scotiabank Pond. The tournament will feature both Minor Peewee and Peewee “AAA” divisions.
