Around the G: September Preview

Summer sports wrapping up means it’s time to dust off the hockey gear (make sure it still fits) and hit the ice for another season. September marks a month of new beginnings in many aspects of life, including minor hockey. New season, new teammates, new coaches, and a new chance at glory. Here’s what’s happening around the G throughout the month of September.

Toronto Titans Minor Midget Prospect Tournament
September 4-9
The 11th annual tournament will see over 50 of the top Minor Midget “AAA” teams from across North America compete to win the coveted title. The tournament has become a hotbed for scouts wanting to get an early look at top OHL prospects. GTHL teams have come out on top for the past two years.

Vaughan Rangers Early Bird
September 6-9
Some of the “AA” teams in GTA will get their legs ready for the season as they compete over four days around rinks in the Vaughan area. Divisions range from Minor Atom to Minor Midget and will guarantee teams at least four games.

“AAA” Schedule Begins
September 11
Teams from Minor Atom to Minor Midget begin their “AAA” season starting September 11 with the Bantam Jr. Canadiens and Mississauga Rebels kicking things off at 6:30 p.m. at Scotiabank Pond. Players in the Midget “AAA” loop will begin their season a few weeks after “AAA” players in younger divisions.

Duffield Devils Select Early Bird
September 14-16
Select teams from Tyke to Under-21 will kick off their seasons before they even begin at the annual Duffield Devils Early Bird. Teams who are successful at the tournament often have a reputation of repeating the pattern throughout both regular season and playoff action. A total of nine age divisions will compete at the three day long tournament.

“AA” and “A” Schedule Begins

Teams from Minor Atom to Minor Midget start their season on a jam-packed night featuring over 30 “A” and “AA” games.

Puck Drop Weekend – A Celebration of Mental Fitness
