Hockey Canada Skills Combine

The Hockey Canada Skills Combine works prominently with rep players to test their on and off-ice capabilities while promoting skill development in a fun and interactive two day program.

This program is open to male and female Minor/Major Atom, Peewee, Bantam and Midget players. It is recommended for athletes who compete at an ‘A’, ‘AA’ or ‘AAA’ levels. However, it is open to all levels.

The Hockey Canada Skills Combine includes the following sessions:

  1. Hockey Canada On-ice Testing
  2. Hockey Canada Off-ice Testing
  3. Hockey Canada On-ice Skill Development session
  4. Nutrition & Training Session
  5. Hockey Canada Guest Speaker

Players will take part in the Hockey Canada National Skills Standards and Testing program that tests players in a variety of on-ice drills, including:

  • 100′ Dash (Forward and Backwards)
  • Agility
  • Transition Agility
  • Endurance Skate

Goalies will participate in the following drills:

  • Iron Cross Shuffle
  • Iron Cross Butterfly
  • Lateral Movements

All players will have their scores included in the national database and will be able to see how they rank in their group as well as against the national averages.

New for the 2015 season, State of the Art Electronic Timing Gear & Radio Frequency ID Bands to provide accurate recording to the hundredth second!

For the off-ice tests, Hockey Canada will offer a comprehensive program focused on speed, power and endurance. This series of tests has been designed to test hockey players on specific athletic hockey movements. Hockey Canada has used this testing at the national junior team summer camp to help with the identification of players for Team Canada. The test includes:

  • Shuttle Cross Pick-up
  • Two Hop Jump
  • 20 Meter Sprint
  • Rotational Power Ball Throw
  • YIRT (Yo-Yo Beep Test)

WHEN: Friday, May 22, 2015 (5:00 – 10:00 p.m.) and Saturday May 23 (9:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.) – 3 groups in each session

WHERE: MasterCard Centre (400 Kipling Avenue, Toronto)

AGES: Minor/Major Atom, Peewee, Bantam and Midget-age players
