Recap: 2024 GTHL Playoffs presented by GSW

The 2023-24 GTHL Playoffs presented by GSW concluded on Sunday, April 21. This year, 1,492 playoff games were scheduled, resulting in 26 champions crowned across the ‘A,’ ‘AA,’ and ‘AAA’ competitive levels.

This year’s playoffs saw 19 different GTHL Clubs win at least one GTHL Championship. Additionally, 29 different GTHL Clubs participated in a GTHL Championship Series (finishing the campaign as a Champion or Finalist).  

The Toronto Eagles and Vaughan Kings led the way with the most GTHL Championships won with three each. The East Enders Ticats, North York Knights, and Toronto Jr. Canadiens had the most finalist appearances with three each.

The Jr. Canadiens had the most overall appearances in the GTHL Championships with five teams (two champions and three finalists).

At the ‘A’ level, the Eagles had the most Championship Series appearances and Championships won at three, courtesy of their U13, U14, and U16 teams. North Toronto had the most finalist appearances with two at U10 and U18. The 2011-born Eagles and 2006-born Forest Hill teams were the only two teams to win back-to-back GTHL Championships this year.

At the ‘AA’ level, the Ticats had the most Championship Series’ appearances at three, finishing as the finalist in the U10, U11, and U14 divisions. The Mississauga Beast and Vaughan Rangers tied for the most Championships won at the ‘AA’ level with two each (U11 and U16 for the Beast, and U13 and U14 for the Rangers). The 2008-born Beast and 2006-born Markham Islanders were the only two teams to win back-to-back GTHL Championships this year. 

At the ‘AAA’ level, the Vaughan Kings went three-for-three in their Championship Series’, winning at the U10, U16, and U18 age groups. The Jr. Canadiens finished with an impressive five teams in GTHL Championship Series’. The U11 and U13 Jr. Canadiens came away with victories, while their U10, U12, and U14 teams finished as Finalists. The 2010-born Markham Majors, 2009-born Don Mills Flyers and 2008-born Vaughan Kings all won their third consecutive GTHL Championship this season.
