Young Nationals set to host Central Region Championship

You don’t have to travel to the ends of the earth to see top hockey talent, you just have to be at Westwood Arena from March 30 to April 5.

The Toronto Young Nationals will look to defend their provincial title when they host the 2015 Central Region Midget AAA Championship later this month.

The Young Nationals last year advanced to the Telus Cup national championship after defeating the host Markham Waxers in the Central Region final. The Nats eventually finished fourth in the country after posting a 4-2-0 record at the Telus Cup.

This season, the Young Nationals posted a 25-3-5 record en route to winning the Kraft Cup as regular season champions. The club currently holds a 7-3 lead in their first-to-eight-points semifinal series with the Mississauga Rebels. The winning team will face the Don Mills Flyers in the Scotiabank GTHL Playoffs Championship series; if the Young Nationals advance, the Flyers clinch a berth in the Central Region Midget AAA Championship.

The winning team from the ALLIANCE, NOHA, OMHA and an ODMHA team also will take part in the provincial championship.
