GTHL hosts over 75 participants for second Development Day of 2022-2023 season

The Greater Toronto Hockey League held its second PD Skill Development Day of the 2022-2023 season on February 17 at Scotiabank Pond. In its fourth season, the event welcomed over 75 kids. The participants ranged from Under-9 to U13, with a varying skillset including house league to ‘AAA’.

The day included two on-ice sessions, an off-ice session in the classroom, as well as dryland training. On the ice, the first session consisted of skating and skills, with a focus throughout the day on skills in stations and small area games. Above all, both on ice sessions prioritized having fun.

In the classroom, players had some down time to play games focusing on inclusivity, teamwork, communication, and leadership. During lunch, participants were treated to a healthy snack courtesy of the GTHL’s 2023 Development Day snack sponsor, Pokko.

Participants also had the opportunity to go through a dryland session at Matt Nichol’s training facility, running through various activities focusing on fitness and fun.

When asked what their favourite part about Development Day was, answers ranged from developing, the ice time, lunch, dryland training, having fun, and meeting new people.
