Unlike a game of NHL 17, there will be no cheat codes for teams looking for victory at the second annual PlayStation Platinum Cup Powered by the Toronto Maple Leafs and the GTHL. Instead, old fashioned hard work and determination will be the recipe of choice for capturing top prize at the tournament.

Twenty-four teams from Atom A, AA, and AAA divisions will press play on the event, running from November 25 to November 27 at the MasterCard Centre. The registration fee, paid by all teams, will go towards Camp Ooch, a camp for kids with cancer. Last year, over $30,000 was raised for the cause.

“The tournament is a perfect opportunity for the players to see how contributing to the community is not a burden but an opportunity to have fun, work towards a common goal, and accomplish a good deed all rolled into one,” said Lou Vedovat, head coach of the Atom AAA Toronto Young Nationals. “Our goal is to promote this tournament to our players not simply as just another set of games, but as a way for the hockey community to come together to help children like them who are battling a terrible illness.”

For their efforts in helping a good cause, players will be treated to a variety of activities courtesy of PlayStation and the Toronto Maple Leafs, including Leafs alumni signings, an interactive PlayStation booth, and an invite to join the Leafs morning skate on Saturday, November 26th at the Air Canada Centre.

“Our team is looking forward to playing hockey at the MasterCard Centre, the official practice facility of the Maple Leafs,” said Colin Bloom, head coach of the Atom A Don Mills Mustangs. “The kids are also excited to see how PlayStation is incorporated into the tournament.”

The three divisions will be comprised of eight teams each. The GTHL, OMHA, and ALLIANCE will all be represented at this year’s tournament.
