Following hockey’s return and a year like no other, the Greater Toronto Hockey League is preparing for the 2022-2023 season with new additions and improved elements for the player experience.
First held in 2021, the GTHL will continue to host and operate free, voluntary skill development sessions prior to tryouts for the Under-10 and U11 age groups. Building off of the success of these sessions, the League is introducing pre-tryout skates for the U12 and U13 divisions for the 2022-23 season.
After consulting with GTHL Member Clubs, the League is announcing it will also be introducing a preseason schedule for the month of September. Additionally, the League’s competitive (‘AAA,’ ‘AA,’ and ‘A’) regular season schedule will feature more games across all age groups.
The ‘AA’ and ‘A’ schedule will encompass a 32-game regular season. The ‘AAA’ schedule for U10 to U14 will see a return to a 33-game balanced scheduled, while the U15 to U18 ‘AAA’ season will see a 36-game balanced season.
The GTHL also announced its player registration fee for the 2022-23 season based on the changes to the length of the season and additional programs being offered. With the player registration fee, the League is pleased to share a onetime rebate to players who participated in GTHL ‘AAA,’ ‘AA,’ or ‘A’ programming through the 2021-22 season and are returning for the 2022-23 season.
