PlayStation Platinum Cup Preview

Gearing up to display their best Auston Matthews impressions, players are now less than a week away from taking to the ice at the third annual PlayStation Platinum Cup Powered by the Toronto Maple Leafs and the GTHL. Twenty-four Atom teams across three divisions will experience a weekend filled with excitement both on and off the ice, including a visit to the ACC. On the ice, players will have their eyes on the ultimate prize as they compete for the title of PlayStation Platinum Cup champions. Here’s a sneak peek of how the divisions break down.

All four teams in division one will be hoping to ride their winning streaks into the tournament. The Quinte West Hawks (12-2-2) are in the midst of a three-game winning streak, while the Essex Ravens haven’t recorded a loss in over a month. Both the Toronto Eagles (7-4-2) and Goulding Park Rangers (9-7-1) will hope to keep up their momentum, with both teams having won two straight. The dominators of division one, however, will possibly have to face division two’s Vaughan Panthers (12-2-2) who currently sit at the top of the GTHL Atom A West standings. The Panthers will no doubt be in for a challenge facing top-tier talent, including the Grimsby Kings (11-3-0), who aren’t very familiar with losing. The East Enders Ticats (11-5-1) and Riverside Rangers will be on the hunt to upset.

In division two, the Burlington Eagles (15-2-1) and  Scarborough Ice Raiders (9-5-4) will look to upset the West Hill Golden Hawks (12-3-3), who currently sit in first place in their regular season division.
