BRYAN WHITTAKER
The League received nearly 20 letters from players, parents and members of the Scarborough Young Bruins explaining why Whittaker deserved recognition. In the words of one of his players, “His tremendous passion for the game is unequivocally matched with the passion he has for making his players decent members of society.”
Whittaker, who played in the GTHL with the Wexford Raiders, began coaching West Hill in 2005 because he wanted to “try and give back by helping young players grow a passion for the great game of hockey.”
“He exudes every characteristic from a coach that you could want, and exemplifies a passion for the game that has made our son stay with his team, and enjoy every moment he steps on the ice.” – Powin and Tanya Low (son: Ethan)
One thing he hopes all his players take away from their time on his team is RESPECT (his motto).
“He commands it himself and his players demonstrate it.” – Terry and Steve Hudson (son: Blake)
His most memorable GTHL moment is winning the Kraft Cup with the Young Bruins. His two boys, Brett and Andrew, are the best gifts he’s ever received.
