Ontario Hockey League
20 GTHL players featured in 2025 OHL Under-18 Priority Selection

On April 16, the Ontario Hockey League conducted the ninth annual OHL Under–18 Priority Selection for U18 ‘AAA’ players in Ontario.

Eligibility for the 2025 OHL Under-18 Priority Selection included all U18 players (2007 and 2008 birth years) not currently on an OHL Member Team Protected List who were carded with an Ontario based U18 ‘AAA’ Hockey Club or an accredited Hockey Canada sport school within the Ontario Hockey Federation (OHF), Hockey Eastern Ontario (HEO), or Hockey Northwestern Ontario (HNO) in the current season.

Of the 51 total players selected from 32 different teams, the Greater Toronto Hockey League had 20 players have their name called. Declan Torrance (Toronto Marlboros) got things started as the third overall pick to the Ottawa 67’s. Torrance was directly followed by his Marlboros teammate Olivier Romain, and by three more consecutive GTHL players as Julius Da Silva (Toronto Jr. Canadiens), Sam Weedmark (Don Mills Flyers), and Finn Dineen (Toronto Marlboros) went fifth, sixth, and seventh respectively.

In total, the U18 OHL Priority Selection included 28 forwards, 12 defencemen, and 11 goaltenders. Of the GTHL players selected, nine were forwards, seven were defencemen, and four were goaltenders.

Nine of the GTHL selections were named to the League’s 2025 U18 ‘AAA’ All Star Game fuelled by Gatorade.

A total of 10 GTHL Clubs were represented in the U18 Priority Selection as the Toronto Marlboros, Toronto Red Wings, and Reps Hockey Club led the way with three players selected. The Don Mills Flyers, Toronto Jr. Canadiens, Toronto Titans, and Vaughan Kings each had two players selected, while the Mississauga Senators and North York Rangers both had one player picked.
