2025-26 GTHL Championships Overview

The 2025-26 season is set to be an exciting one for players across the Greater Toronto Hockey League, with numerous championships taking place across multiple levels of competition. This guide provides a comprehensive look at all the championships for the season and can serve as a helpful resource for players and families. 

All-Ontario Championships 

The All-Ontario Championships refers to the provincial hockey championships for the top ‘AAA’ teams in Ontario, coordinated by the thee Hockey Canada branches in the province: Ontario Hockey Federation (OHF), Hockey Eastern Ontario (HEO), and Hockey Northwestern Ontario (HNO). These championships feature teams from all three branches at three age categories:

  • U13 AAA — Hosted by Waterloo Wolves 
  • U15 AAA — Hosted by Hockey Northwestern Ontario 
  • U18 AAA — Hosted by Markham Waxers  

OHL Cups

The OHL Cup tournaments showcase the best of Ontario’s ‘AAA’ minor hockey talent in two age groups: 

  • U16 AAA OHL Cup – Hosted by the GTHL 
  • U14 AAA OHL Cup — Hosted by the Ontario Minor Hockey Association (OMHA) 

Ontario Hockey Federation (OHF) Championships

OHF championships provide a pathway for teams at the ‘A’ and ‘AA’ level to compete provincially:

  • U13 A — Hosted by Southeast Surge
  • U13 AA — Hosted by Copper Cliff Reds
  • U15 AA — Hosted by Vaughan Rangers 
  • U18 AA — Hosted by Kitchener Jr. Rangers 
  • New for 2025-26 for the non-body checking divisions:
    • U15 A — Hosted by Aurora Tigers
    • U18 A — Hosted by Markham Waxers

GTHL A Championships

The GTHL A Championships feature the GTHL competitive (‘A’) champions and the Mississauga Hockey League’s (MHL) champions going head-to-head, with some divisions advancing to provincial competition:

  • U10: Single-game championship between MHL champion and GTHL competitive champion.  
  • U11 & U12: These groups are a part of the GTHL’s competitive stream; no separate championships. 
  • U13: GTHL competitive playoff champion will advance to OHF Championship. 
  • U14: Single-game championship between MHL champion and GTHL competitive champion. 
  • U15: Best-of-three series between MHL champion and GTHL competitive champion to qualify for OHF Championship. 
  • U16: Single-game championship between MHL champion and GTHL competitive champion. 
  • U17: Single-game championship between MHL champion and GTHL competitive champion. 
  • U18: Best-of-three series between MHL champion and GTHL competitive champion to qualify for OHF Championship.
